Ok, bit of a story here.
So in my department we have display air conditioners, including some portable ones that are a fan, ac, and dehumidifier in one. We had a string of 90+ degree days, it was unbearably hot in the store (apparently something was up with the store ac) so my manager plugged one in and turned on the fan. Mind you these are on a shelf four feet up and he had to contort himself to do so. He wasn’t supposed to but he is a manager so he is a lot more willing to do things like that.
A day or so later a (very rude) lady comes in and asks me to plug in the larger display so she could see how it worked. I literally just punched in from lunch when she approached. I attempted to explain that the one that was on technically was not supposed to be so I couldn’t really plug in the other one. And also that it was in such a position where I would have to climb on the shelf. And that all I could do was turn on the fan anyway because for the actual ac part to work it has to be vented.
She was not having any of that. She flat out told me she “didn’t want to deal with me” so I went and got my other manager.
I don’t know exactly what happened but after the lady left and I went in the aisle I found both displays unplugged. So the one bright spot we had was now gone. All because I didn’t do something I wasn’t actually supposed to do.
