Friendly’s is probably the worst restaurant to work at because people assume they don’t have to tip ona regular basis. I heard a group talking about it once, saying it was basically McDonalds so they didn’t have to tip. Fuck no. I’m providing the same service you’d get at any other restaurant. Also, everyone had coupons or got meal deals and no one tipped for the amount it would’ve come out to before the discounts. Either they were cheap or just too stupid to do the math. Tons of mothers would come in with free ice cream coupons for all their children, order them from the take out register, and then take up a table for the next hour. They’d make a huge mess, make me get them all waters which they’d refill numerous times, and then leave me absolutely nothing for my trouble. Also, news flash, 9 times out of 10 your server is making that custom ice cream sundae for you. It’s hard ass work, it almost always comes free with your meal, and it takes a huge chunk of time away from other tables. Everyone always spills it all over the tables and there are never bussers to clean them. Do people consider this when leaving tips at Friendly’s? HELL NO! Oh free ice cream? No need to tip on that! Seriously. Do not ever accept a job at Friendly’s unless you have absolutely no other options. It’s a soul crushing experience that will make you hate all people. To the guy who left no tip, your server was probably bombarded with work at the time. It’s so hard to give good service there because they make you do the work of five people. Sometimes I’d have to wait on half the restaurant! Again, servers made the ice cream, salads, and specialty beverages, sat tables, bussed tables, we’d even get stuck cooking and doing dishes some nights! And this was for a whole $2.75 before tips, doing many jobs which people got paid at least minimum wage to do. ARE YOU KIDDING ME WITH THIS TIP? You better have left a legit tip and just left it out of the picture. If your service was crappy, it’s because Friendly’s expects servers to do so much more than just serving. Work that other restaurants hire extra people to do. So you are a huge scum bag for this one. I have no respect for your attempt at a joke. It’s awful.
